Learning by Doing
For the particular population enrolled at the New Road Schools of New Jersey, no other educational approach has proven as effective as actually doing things themselves not just listening, watching, not just completing written assignments or reading textbooks. Certainly, our classrooms provide traditional instruction in the required core academic fields, but even here, we tailor lessons and coursework to actively engage students on all levels: physically, sensorially, kinetically, and emotionally, as well as mentally and intellectually.
Our inquisitive, spirited students flourish when they're genuinely interested in and involved with their own educational experience, so we incorporate hands-on lesson work wherever possible. Our vocational program is based off of this hands-on philosophy.
