Somerset Campus
The New Road School of Somerset is a New Jersey Approved Private School for Students with Disabilities ages 11 to 21 who have learning, language and social challenges.
Using the New Road Schools' unique academic instructional and educational model, we provide our students with the tools and skills they need to succeed in the classroom, at home, and in the community.
Transition Program
New Road School of Somerset offers a variety of transition based experiences both on-campus and off-campus for our students. Some of our on-campus experiences are culinary, production, and computer recycling. These jobs on campus allow the students to gain work experience in different fields. Some of our off-campus opportunities include working at ShopRite, Nissan, and Mold Rite Plastics. Students complete these off-campus jobs with a job coach and can progress to a more independent site like Outback Steakhouse and BAM Desserts where they go to work independently.
Electives and Other Classes
All New Road Schools academic curricula follow the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards. Instruction is delivered in small class sizes and is provided one-on-one for each student. In language arts, teachers utilize varied reading and literacy programs based on individual students' needs. In mathematics, we guide students along a skills-application sequence, gradually introducing them to more demanding material. At every age, we emphasize those math applications that are particularly important for the individual child, such as time management and personal finance. All New Road Schools provide all required classes as per the New Jersey State Graduation requirements to include classes such as science, social studies, financial literacy, foreign language, and physical education.
