The New Road School of Ocean is a New Jersey Approved Private School for Students with Disabilities ages 5 to 21 who have learning, language, social, emotional and behavioral challenges.
New Road School of Ocean County currently serves approximately 60 students in our Lakewood, N.J., school building. Our classrooms, facilities, and programs are designed to meet the individual needs and strengths of each student.
We employ the New Road Schools' educational model, meeting each student where they are, adapting his or her curriculum flexibly to leverage current strengths and learning styles, and providing one-on-one tutorial-based instruction in small classrooms. We allow our students to advance at their own pace, rewarding success at every turn, balancing caring support and empathy with accountability. Our model ensures that students build confidence and competence, and advance academically, socially, and vocationally, with the goal of becoming independent and productive members of their communities.
New Road School of Ocean's Micro-community, New Road Boardwalk, is our school "village," connecting us to each other and to the wider community. With an array of stores and on-campus businesses staffed and run by students, it provides opportunities to learn new skills and plays an important role in preparing them for independent work and living in the community.
Helping our students to be ready for life after school is an important priority for New Road Schools. Click here to learn more about Career and Transition programs at New Road School of Ocean County.
